Overview

Gloveside was created with the goal to specifically train infielders. The founder had played most of his baseball career as an infielder and initially wanted to build a logo of an infielder’s silhouette. Through market and design research, I had designed a logo that Gloveside happily adopted. Meeting client goals that reflect and embody a logo that showcases edgy and modern.

Goal

We wanted to stand out but still show love for those looking to train as infielders. The founder emphasized the glove for his initial logo concept, reflecting on how important and unique it is within the sport. From that exchange, I took that concept and brought forth the Gloveside logo.

Inspiration

  • Initial Research

From the design notes, I’ve looked at other brands and competitors within the same industry or have those who share similar values and philosophies. I have also looked at various illustrations and images of baseball gloves and other baseball equipment.

  • Concepts & Sketches

The initial concepts and sketches come from the idea of the baseball glove. After sketching various iterations of the letter “G,” minimalizing the shape of a baseball glove, and visualizing the image of a “home plate,” I concluded to a design sketch that was modern and best fit the brand.

  • Type Choice

Futura was chosen because of its versatility. With its simple geometric shapes, it represents function over form. Taking away nonessential and decorative elements which reflect the straightforward and effective philosophy behind Gloveside. The bottom are brands who use Futura and are within the fitness/sports world.
